Paint Cleaners & Glazes

What exactly is a paint cleaner? Most paint cleaners are non-abrasive, chemical polishes that are designed to strip off previous layers of protection and lay down a foundation so that your sealant or wax has an ideal surface to bond to. Paint cleaners can also be used to remove oxidation and other surface imperfections. Since there are no abrasives typically found in paint cleaners, they will not remove swirls or scratches.

Glazes on the other hand may be able to hide some minor imperfections by filling them in, usually with oils or clay. This helps give the paint a deeper and wetter look by giving the impression that the clear coat is in better condition than it really is. These products can also be referred to as Pre-Wax Cleaners.
