Removing Imperfections
There are three major steps in properly caring for your vehicles paint: contamination removal, removing imperfections, and paint protection. The second step is removing imperfections and is what differentiates a good detail from an exceptional one. What are imperfections in the paint? Imperfections are essentially dips and valleys in your clear coat that refract light in different directions, taking away from the overall finish. These dips and valleys are more commonly known as: swirl marks, spider webbing, scratches, scuffs, water spots, bird dropping etching, oxidation, hazing, marring, or holograms in your paint. As you remove these imperfections, you allow the light to properly pass through your clear coat and reflect your vehicles true finish. A skilled detailer can remove 95% or more of paint defects with the proper tools and techniques. Once you properly remove as many imperfections as you can, it is even more important to learn how to properly maintain your vehicle, so you minimize adding more imperfections in the future.
