Nas is Untitled α

Nas proclaims “No matter what the CD called, I’m unbeatable y’all” on his latest single Hero, from his latest album release, Untitled. Why is it untitled? Google it. Well anyways, I’m with Nas on this, it doesn’t matter what the album is called. With anything in the media, you could debate whether it was a marketing ploy to raise the ears of the media, but either way, Nas was going to be heard. It brought forth what he wanted to accompany this new album. Fox news giving him publicity albeit bad, but you know what they say about publicity. With his second release off Def Jam Records, he needed a new angle and this fits nicely with the subject matter of this new album.
With past events of race in America and a black candidate for presidency this fall, Nas hits those points and speaks his mind. He starts off with “Queens Get The Money”, a Sinnerman like piano loop plays while Nas does his thing sans the drum beat. He calls out Fox News and Bush with “Sly Fox”, wittily anthropomorphizing the major media outlet. Hero, as aforementioned, his first single, gives a hard beat with a nice bell synth twittering in the backdrop for his voice to flow. Accompanied by Keri Hilson a female vocal that seems all to familiar to Nas’ songs, but works well. Ya’ll My Niggas breaks down the N word, and what it has become in America’s English vernacular. A couple other tracks to look out for, America, and Black President.
I would say this album is a bit more cohesive than his past couple offerings but still has the requisites of a Nas album. Nas is his own and if you know what he’s about, you’ll basically know what this album is about. This aint Illmatic, but as hard as it may be, comparing is not the objective. Still prophetic, still flowing tight, this is… another solid Nas album. I don’t know what else to say. *shrugs with a slight apathetic demeanor*
